Excellent video. Super useful info. I’m from the states had Visible as my main carrier and use an eSIM on my unlocked iPhones 15 pro. I used Google Fi for data only since I wasn’t aware of all of these amazing choices. 1 thing to remember if paying for your home line and then you need to pay for that data eSIM. It does add up. I’m w Google Fi only in Europe $65. Works awesome.

I think you missed a category of users in this video. I would probably consider them to be a sub-segment of the Nomad category. Those nomads who live and travel outside their home country for an extended period of time, suchs as years, and don't want to pay the expensive cost of maintaining a home mobile phone line. This is a huge issue, since many Western banks require two-factor authentication tied to a sim-connected phone from your home country. An obvious conundrum for this type of nomad, as it can make dealing with financial institutions back home an absolute nightmare. To my knowledge, none of the esim companies in this video offer a solution to this problem. What are your thoughts on any esim providers that offer a solution to this problem? Any ideas? The company would need to offer an actual phone line in addition to data, and the ability to send and recieve sms messages and make and recieve phone calls on the provided line.Most importantly, it must be able to recieve 2FA codes from financial institutions, which means it cannot be a VOIP option.

Airalo doesn't now work in India since around January. I landed in Mumbai 5 days ago and couldn't even get the app to open. A search informed me that Airalo has been banned from India yet they are still selling eSIMs there! They offered to cancel my eSIM and leave me credit on my account lol 🤣. Why oh why are those clowns selling eSIMs in India?

Just an update on Airalo, I landed in Mumbai 5 days ago only to find out Airalo isn't currently operating in India since around January. The clowns said I could have credit for what I paid on my account! Why would they sell a eSIM to a country they currently can't offer service in???

Can't understand why they wouldn't allow data sharing, surely the more you share your data the quicker you run out and the quicker they sell you a top up? It's not like you get any free data by sharing.

Where do you get the physical esim card from?

Currently living in Thailand with 0 problems. I use google voice and local sim....total phone cost less than $10/mo(300 baht). Banks in both countries, brokerage accounts etc and never a single problem transacting. I prefer Wise to transfer money from country to country(wise xfrs bank to bank only). It is not instant but is the cheapest. I use a vpn with a server in the USA most of the time. With a bank in both countries and Wise, I use local debit card only. If you are going to use a debit card from USA get a Schwab account. Using a credit card overseas is throwing away your money. esims are for tourists(cost more). Since I only use and carry a local debit card, my only exposure is to my thai bank account if skimmed or stolen.

Some people have such a strong allergic reaction to nuts that just the SMELL can set them off. Usually, these people carry epipens and let the staff know about this. It is better to be safe than sorry, and not risk an emergency on the plane.

Plan ahead. Don’t wait till you get somewhere before you start thinking about security. If you have a really nice lap top, maybe think about whether you can get by with an IPad or even buying a cheap laptop if you can do many things on the cloud and don’t need a ton of apps.
